Colony differences in termiticide transfer studies, a role for behavior?
نویسنده
چکیده
Donor-recipient termiticide transfer laboratory tests were performed by using destructive sampling with two delayed-action non-repellent (DANR) termiticides against each of three colonies of Reticulitermes flavipes (Kollar). Two of the three colonies showed no response to indoxacarb, but all three showed a response to chlorantraniliprole. These results indicate that behavioral variation among colonies is not likely responsible for the variability in recipient mortality among colonies noted in transfer studies in the literature. Donor mortality with these compounds and colonies suggests that variable physiological susceptibility of individual colonies to certain compounds may be more important than variations in behavior.

Assessment of Donor I Recipient Ratios in Permethrin Transfer Studies with Reticulitermes virginicus Banks1
Crowding of termites may influence observed recipient mortality in donor-recipient toxicant transfer studies. It was hypothesized that if crowding were important , any termiticide (particularly repellent termiticides, which were not thought to transfer) could be transferred by contact among termites when the donor complement was sufficient. Termiticide transfer donorrecipient studies were perfo...

The potential for transfer of nonrepellent termiticide toxicants between workers of the Formosan subterranean termite, Coptotermes formosanus Shiraki, was examined using two commercially available pesticide formulations and a simple donor-recipient model modified from current methods in the literature. Pesticides used were imidacloprid, formulated as Premise 75 WP, and fipronil, formulated as T...

Abstract Background and Aim: Candida albicans play the main role in the onset, preservation and progression of denture stomatitis. Therefore, the present study was conducted with the aim of comparing the anti candidal effect of cinnamon and Querques infectoria extracts with nystatin for treatment of denture stomatitis. Materials and methods: In this experimental study, 43 patients with clini...

Macrophage colony stimulating factor (M-CSF) has previously been shown to affect the differentiation of cells of the mono-nuclear phagocytic line. More recent studies indicate that M-CSF may have a role in pregnancy. In the present study, the expression of M-CSF in the human placenta was demonstrated. Placental mRNA was isolated and used as template for synthesis of complementary DNA (cDNA). Th...
متن کاملP-76: Important Role of Macrophage Colony-Stimulating Factor during Menstrual Cycle and Early Pregnancy Phase in Oovarian Stimulated IVF-Ppatients
Background: M-CSF is a cytokine mediating the growth, proliferation and differentiation of various cell types including macrophages, trophoblast cells, and osteoclasts. It plays an important role in immunity reproduction, follicle development and ovulation. In the present study, we describe the important role of the changes in serum M-CSF levels during the menstrual cycle, in the process of fol...
